Luis Suarez in the Midst of Controversy

What seemed like a snoozer ultimately turned out to be a match with controversy involving Luis Suarez. The Uruguay striker appeared to have bitten Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini. This is the 3rd time that Suarez is involved in a biting incident, the 3rd time in 4 years. If found guilty, Suarez could face a 2 year ban by FIFA.The details have not been released yet but FIFA is expected to make a decision before Saturday’s Uruguay match.

The first few matches in the round of 16 are set as Groups A-D have come to a close. The unlikeliest of World Cup dark horses, Costa Rica, went on to win their group. It was another “group of death” that contained Uruguay, England, and Italy. Uruguay and Italy battled for the last spot in Group C yesterday.

Greece scored a last minute (literally) penalty vs. Ivory Coast. It was an absolute heartbreaker for Ivory Coast, a passionate team that equalized just minutes before. Greece now faces Costa Rica in the round of 16, and South American giants Colombia face foes Uruguay
